Digestive System

Your stomach, which is attached to the end of the esophagus, is a stretchy sack shaped like the letter J. It has three important jobs:
1. to store the food you've eaten
2. ton break down the food into a liquidy mixture
3. to slowly empty that liquidy mixture
Where is digestive system located? image
Our body needs food to provide it with energy, vitamins and minerals. However, in order use food, we must first break it down into substances that the various organs and cells in our body can use.
What is the role of the digestive system? image
The stomach is like a mixer, churning and mashing together all the small balls of food that came down the esophagus into smaller and smaller pieces. It does this with help from the strong muscles in the walls of the stomach and gastric .
What organs make up digestive system? image
The digestive system is responsible for breaking down food we eat into smaller components so that nutrients can be easily absorbed by the body and the waste discarded.
What are the main function of digestive system? image
The first part of the small intestine works with juices from the liver and pancreas to continue to break down our food. The second part is where the food gets absorbed from the intestine and into our body through the blood. The last stage is the large intestine. Any food that the body doesn't need or can't use is sent to the large intestine and later leaves the body as waste.
What is each organ's function in the digestive system? image
Swallowing may seem like a simple process to us. It just sort of happens. But food doesn't just fall down our throat muscles that force the food down into a long tube that leads to our stomach, called the esophagus. The food doesn't just fall down the pipe, muscles push the food along until it gets to our stomach. At the same time all this is going on, a flap blocks off our windpipe making sure food doesn't go the wrong way. We call this "going down the wrong pipe" and it can make us choke. This flap is called the epiglottis and, fortunately for us, it works automatically.
How do the organs perform these function? image
1. Yogurt is made from milk that has been fermented, typically by lactic acid bacteria.
It contains friendly bacteria known as probiotics, which are good bacteria that live in your digestive tract and can help improve digestion, keeping your gut healthy.

2. Apples are a rich source of pectin, a soluble fiber.
Pectin bypasses digestion in your small intestine and is then broken down by the friendly bacteria in your colon.

3. Commonly consumed in miso soup, miso is made by fermenting soybeans with salt and koji, a type of fungus.
Miso contains probiotics that, like other fermented foods, help improve digestion by increasing the good bacteria in your gut.

Bloating is when your belly feels swollen after eating.
It is usually caused by excess gas production or disturbances in the movement of the muscles of the digestive system.
Bloating can often cause pain, discomfort and a "stuffed" feeling. It can also make your stomach look bigger.
"Bloating" is not the same as water retention, but the two terms are often used interchangeably. Put simply, bloating involves excessive amounts of solids, liquids or gas in your digestive system.
